Los Rancheros Mexican Restaurant was the first of many Mexican restaurants opened by Ruben Gimenez. This restaurant originated many recipes and dishes that have become staples of Mexican food in the Mobile Bay area. Not only have these dishes become well known and sought after; our friendly, warm service with an optimistic, upbeat attitude is a balm for today's busy and often stressful life.
Our guests are young couples, whole families, groups of teenagers, longtime regulars, couples celebrating anniversaries, and parents showing their sons and daughters how to have a good time at a restaurant. One of our greatest satisfactions is watching people from all walks of life come and enjoy our food, service and place.
Our bar is always lively with friends, couples, or people on their own enjoying great margaritas and other drinks while relaxing, meeting people and, of course, watching sports on our large TV screens, often cheering for Alabama or Auburn.
Decades of experience count. As the first of many restaurants, this place has an intimacy and history that we try to share through our food, drinks and service. We want you to have a memorable experience.
Mexican Cuisine
Many of our Mexican dishes were created, tested and refined in this restaurant, later becoming staples at our other restaurants such as Don Carlos and El Rancho in Daphne.
We keep our roots in old, traditional Mexican recipes, and we are always refining our dishes and trying new ones. Our large variety of dishes comes from different regions of Mexico. We invite you to explore our menu!
Our Ambiance
Since Los Rancheros opened, friendly service and a warm ambiance, as if you were invited into a home, have been our hallmark. You may have heard about Latin American hospitality: that is who we are and what we practice, and we want you to experience it.
We want everyone to feel at home, from friends sharing stories at the bar to whole families with children laughing and having a wonderful time.
Our Bar
Our bar is a meeting point, and our friendly, upbeat staff is always around to advise you on a drink and prepare anything from a great margarita to any traditional drink you may want.
Watching all kinds of sports is a typical scene here, especially football games with passionate guests rooting for their favorite teams. When we created Los Rancheros we knew a bar should be at the center of it, and we were right!
Our Story
Ruben Gimenez, a respected restaurateur and entrepreneur in the Mobile Bay area, started with Los Rancheros in the 1980s. This restaurant was the first step: it created many dishes and a way of working that was carried to other restaurants, such as El Rancho and Don Carlos. As the first restaurant, Los Rancheros has a history and tradition that is still alive. Our original purpose, high-quality, home-style traditional Mexican food and great margaritas with friendly service, is what we are proud of and what we keep alive every day.
